There are many beneficial ingredients available for skincare. They all have some effect on the skin, but there are some key nutrients that are essential for maintaining basic skin health. Just as we feed our bodies good, healthy food, we also need to feed our skin the right nutrients to keep it functioning at an optimal level (keeping it looking young and cancer free). The three most important ingredients are Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Anti-oxidants. As Dr Oz says, you have to ACE it!
1. Vitamin A
- Retinyl Palmitate, Retinyl Acetate, Retinol, Retinoic Acid
- Works as a hormone on the DNA of the skin cells and has the ability to regenerate dying and abnormal cells.
- It speeds up exfoliation of the skin and improves appearance
- Improves immunity
- Improves pigmentation
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production
- Normalizes sebum production and helps reduce dryness and oiliness. A key ingredient in the treatment of acne.
2. Vitamin C
- Ascorbyl (Tetraiso) palmitate, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Ascorbic Acid – C is for collagen!
- Helps treat pigmentation
- Strengthens blood capillaries
- Is a powerful anti-oxidant
- Recycles Vitamin E
- Is a natural sunscreen
3. Anti-Oxidants
- Vitamin C and Vitamin E, Green Tea, Red Tea, Beta Carotene, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Lycopene, Co-enzyme Q10, Resveratrol, Coffeeberry and many more.
- Reduces the negative effect of free radicals
- Anti-inflammatory
It is possible to find a good ‘Multivitamin’ cream to use twice daily on your skin and thus ensure it remains healthy and able to fight the daily onslaught of the environmental pollutants, stress, and abuse. This should be topped off with a good sunscreen every morning.
